Open Letter: Sci-Fi Heaven Forums
By Chris McQuillan on Apr 25, 2007 in Site News
In recent months, there has been a massive shift in the content usage of Sci-Fi Heaven.
In years gone by, the forums were a hub of community activity hosting mod discussions, full role-playing games and news discussion. Yet the original system became antiquated, and the system was updated. Never since, however, has the original member-base been recaptured, and the forums have shifted from one design to the next; the most recent of which does not appear to have captured anyone’s interest.
As a result, we are looking at reconsidering the future of the forums themselves; but we want your opinion in determining what should be done.
Should they be:
- Updated to a new forum system chosen by the members, with topic forums determined by the members.
- Should another fresh revamp be attempted by the admin staff?
- Should the forums be closed entirely?
One of the reasons why we believe the traffic to the forums has shifted so considerably to the main site is the much more interactive nature of the main site. In ways, it itself acts as a community hub with comments and discussion.
With this in mind, is it still a good idea to have a forum?

Don’t close the forum. It always good to at least have the option available to freely discuss things if we wanted to than to want to discuss a topic and not even have the option available to do so. If that makes sense….
I do miss the old EFC era days.
