When they were on Kobol and found the Temple of Athena?" using the arrow that Starbuck fetched from Caprica, we found out that the constellations seen from Earth (the zodiac) were used as the symbols for each of the 12 colonies. Now it would seem to me a bit much that the colonists from Kobol would leave Kobol, go to Earth, then make theire way to the 12 Colonies, give them the info about the constellations and then depart.

It would rather seem that they left Earth and then somehow created the 12 colonies. So we will find out that they are somehow descended from Earth.

now correct me if i'm wrong, (i'm being polite on this one, so please don't correct me unless it's absolutely neccessary) but the above blurb about Laura Roslin being the dying leader that would lead the 12 tribes to it's salvation blah blah was pretty straight forward when it was first wrote.
now, however, it seems as though the waters have been well and truly muddied.
all that was said, was (and this is only taken from memory) that a dying leader would lead the 12 tribes to it's new home... nothing said that it would be the human leader. my thoughts on this - NATALIE!!!!
she was the leader of the cylon rebels, and she died.i mean properly died. she also lead the fleet to the truce that enabled the mission in "the hub" which inevitably led (via the resurrection of D'anna) to earth.
Roslin was never the dying leader, this fate was left to Natalie.

Roslin's here to stay by the looks of it.

any thoughts?

and btw, how can Kara Thrace not be the harbinger of death now? she's led the entire fleet to a radioactive rock! pretty much speaks for itself!
ok, maybe not.

I honestly didn't know what to expect from Earth: anything from an enlightened, uber-paradise to a war-torn Los Angeles with a lasergun-wielding Governator as the welcoming committee seemed up for grabs. The final shot, tho, had just the right balance of hope, disappointment, and unanswered questions that seem to define the BSG series.

So then all humans have latent cylon genealogy, and are something like 1/128 cylon? Or rather, humans and cylons are really the same race, just two separate levels of evolution? I guess that makes sense; it fits with the whole "this has all happened before, and it will all happen again" deal. And there do seem to be minor hints of cylon psychology throughout the series (baltar's pseudo-sexual repartee with head-six, Adama's pow-wows with his dead wife, Lampkin's chit-chats with his dead cat, etc.) I don't like the idea of being a cylon half-sy descendant caught in some genocidal game of intergalactic ping-pong, our ancestors and descendants traveling back and forth between Caprica and Earth without really learning the value of life; but then, there were a lot of things that I didn't like at first and later grew to praise about this series (Toricide was one shocking, if delicious, way to go...)

As far as where all this will ultimately pan out, Moore & Eick seem pretty adamant in interviews that they're not going to do a conclusion that wraps up every single little strand in a nice neat package with a bow on top, but rather deliver a conclusion that is satisfying, but leaves just enough unresolved to keep people debating and wondering. I just hope they provide a satisfying, logical, definitive enough explanation for at least some of the nagging questions still lingering about (like what is the deal with Baltar in general? I mean, seriously - what the frak?

There are a few things that I foresee happening that I'm rather excited about:

The apocalyptic civil war that will rage (hopefully) across the human/cylon alliance that will set up a "sins of the father/mother"-esque recurring history pattern of doom for the humans and cylons to play out down through eternity, and single act of redemption (human cylon hybrid children?) that offers up some small sliver of hope for their descendants, and

Tori's inevitable come-uppins at the hands of a homocidal Tyrol, and the awkwardness of Tyrol asking Boomer-Sharon out on a cylon rebound date, especially considering that all the women in his life have died due to jealousy-inspired, cylon love?)

I'm just worried Moore/Eick will leave just a little too much unresolved and chock it up to creative license; Moore was, after all, praising the Sopranos creators for having the balls to end the Sopranos series the way they did; I just hope that means that the BSG creators are considering having the stones to kill off their world, and all of its main characters, with a bang, and not a whimper.
