Stan Winston Passes Away

Ain’t It Cool News broke the news yesterday that Stan Winston passed on two nights ago after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma; an incurable-but-treatable form of cancer that attacks the plasma cell, a crucial part of the immune system. Winston apparently battled with the disease for seven years.

He was 62 years old.

Winston won Oscars for  Best Visual Effects for Aliens, Jurassic Park, and Terminator 2: Judgment Day and was a multiple Academy Award nominee.  Other standout works include all of the Terminator and Jurassic Park films, and also Edward Scissorhands, Batman Returns, and most recently, Iron Man — namely, the Iron Man suit.
