I also must disagree, and strongly - I'd rate it a half star out of five - it only gets the half because it actually had transformers in it. Other than plot holes and errors - refer to two pages worth documented on IMDB - the characters, dialogue and plot were all woeful.

Lowlights:

1. Juvenile characters - yes, the Twins stand out here - included to appeal to the kiddies I guess, but did no one learn a lesson from Jar Jar Binks? Honestly, directors need to target a demographic audience and then develop for that audience. Its the difference between doing one thing well, or ten things poorly. This tries to appeal to multiple age groups and as a result fails to have a strong appeal to any.

WTF is with bumblebee dancing when he wants to go to college. I thought this guy was a small but heroic warrior, not a loser from "so you think you can dance"

Why does Jetfire use a cane and constantly have bits of his body falling off him. I get that he is old, why a cane? So doesn't make sense... and by the way, Jetfire teleporting? Crap!!!!

2. Even more juvenile humour - yes, the dog humping and leg humping. Again, did no one learn from the jar jar binks stepping in poop moment. Is the movie aimed at 7 year olds, or the movie ticket buying general public?

3. Trite dialogue. We get a cool intro to the Sideswipe character, which is completely marred by the self-loving "damn, I'm good' comment. C'mon, I get that he's supposed to be in love with himself, but couldn't they have come up with something better? Anyway, why use this personality for Sideswipe, its always been Sunstreaker who has been like that. They would have made worthwhile Twins, if they wanted twins, rather than the doofus brothers. How did they ever get into, and survive, in a military outfit? Its like they worked out the script by watching teenage boys posturing in high schools. Anything the Twins said was a waste of screen time. I predict we'll have a "Phantom Edit" version of this with as much of them as possible cut out before too long.

4. Too many characters, too little development - yes, it was great (for the film, and no doubt for post-film marketing) to have more characters, but too little was done with them. They flashed up on the screen, then did nothing else. Guys from the first movie were hardly seen.

5. Too big a departure from established Transformers mythos. I know I'm a G1 fan, but I could accept the first movie, even with its flaws. But Megatron having a boss? That was crap. Seeing uberboss get destroyed so easily. That was crap. Hardly anything with starscream/megatron conflict - crap! Soundwave as the spacebound comms guy - ok, that was new, but I could accept that - it made sense. But he was so underused, he may as well not have been in the movie at all. Crap / Wasted!

Sure, there were a few cool moments, and a few good laughs. The stand out for me was Ravage running across the ice and infiltrating the base. But overall, soooo, SOOO disappointing.

Can not bring myself to watch it again. Much as a I love transformers, this has scarred me.

RIP Transformers G1.

I disagree quite strongly on plenty of aspects. I can't say an action movie is fun if the plot is non-existent. There are so many holes in the Transformers 2 plot that it hurts; dialog is cliché half the time; characters are either ridiculous for purposes of (constant) comic relief, or bad-ass killing machines; you don't even get character development, human or robot.

And while the CGI was great, some battles were so confusing I couldn't honestly enjoy them.
