History

The origins of this mod are not where you might expect them to be, infact they go way back to 1974 where my Grandad brought Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds on double Vinyl. Working as a shipwright in Portsmouth Harbour, Britian he brought a tape deck and recorded his vinyl records onto cassette. He listened to it a few times over the years and the last few seconds of it were overtaped by his daughters agruing with my dad when they were younger. Eventually it got forgotten about and was left in the attic for 17 years.

After 17 years, my Grandad decided to have a clearout of his attic while a much younger me aged 11 was round for the afternoon. I found the tape and my grandad said I could have it. After being a fan of the musical for many years and listening to it many times the tape finally wore out so I was left without the musical so I forgot about it for a while until one day I was bored and downloaded the musical of the internet and then my love for the story and the musical grew again and I began to think what a cool game this would be. I was already aware that there was a War of the Worlds game released previously that was also based opon Jeff Wayne's interpretation but it only used the music. So I thought wouldn't it be cool if the game was played through the eyes of the main character in the story. The idea stayed in my mind for a couple of years but there wasn't the technology to pull off perfect lip sync or characters that were detailed enough to be believable and allow the player to follow the game and take it seriously.

This mod is doing things that no other mod has attempted nor commerical game so the chance of failure is high but innovation doesn't come easy. Personally I'm fedup of seeing shooter after shooter on the market. There isn't enough games out there that are trying new things and taking risks.
